Nature nominee

A series of aspens in fog captured in Gunnison National Forest in Colorado.

This was one of the four days we spent photographing aspens in Colorado and the only day when a very thick fog covered the forest, making the entire scene very mystical. This was one of the most beautiful mornings I have ever experienced being in the forest. The conditions and light were changing rapidly and having setup and refocus large format camera under the changing light conditions wasn't the easiest task. However, I still managed to make four or fix exposures until the light and fog were completely gone.

Andrii Iasynetskyi is a software engineer in Uber, previously in Google. At his spare time, he is an internationally award-winning landscape photographer, having earned several awards from National Geographic, International Photography Awards (IPA) and EPSON International Pano Awards.

At the intersection of technology and art, Andrii has developed his own creative process which allows him to reproduce the highest quality of detail and color in his final work. His ultimate goal is to recreate the captured moment as he saw it in nature’s presence. The photographs are 100% authentic and not digitally enhanced. In post-processing, only the most basic tools are used such as local contrast, color balance, dodging, burning, and sharpness.
