This image was shot in one exposure for 15 seconds at f4.0 with a 24mm lens. The Bristlecone Pine was illuminated with light painting which took some experimentation to get just right (without overexposure or underexposure). The image had some post processing in Lightroom with a little final touch up in Photoshop to enhance some of the color and texture of the tree. On a philosophical and poetic note, the ancient Bristlecone tree twist in time over thousands of years like the swirling spiral twisting of the Milky Way. The archetype spiral form known as sacred geometry can be found everywhere in nature from DNA to galaxies and is indeed a seed source of wonder. Below is a Haiku I wrote to accompany my image.
Twisting ancient tree,
swirling like the Milky Way,
The seeds of wonder

AUTHOR
Peter Hines brings a unique blend to his photography of technical understanding & artistic vision & considers himself as much an artist as a photographer. He compares his camera to a paintbrush with light as the medium of expression. He sees the camera as an extension of his heart & the first step in a creative process which is completed & perfected in digital post-process. The result is unique photographic art that captures his vision of deep reverence inspired by the sublime glory of nature. Some of his accomplishments to date include working as photographer guide in Alaska teaching thousands of people how to use their camera, winning numerous awards in the Southeast Alaska State Fair, and starting his own fine-art photography and guide services business.
