The Bolds (Series)
DESCRIPTION
The Bolds series is a visual reflection on men’s body and its undressed appearance shaped by experiences, reflections, family life and professional careers. People tend to strike a judgemental attitude, almost always objectifying others as per the clothes they wear or people they love.
The Bolds series’ aim is to introduce male professionals who were asked to appear naked within the spaces they contemplate, live or work in. The project is not about questioning the value of a human’s body; it is about the ability to recognize the real sense of a dialogue and an existence.
Why we tend to judge slim, undressed women and get shocked while seeing random and not gym built naked male body?
Being a photographer myself I follow George Elliot’s famous quote: ”Don’t judge a book by its cover" reflecting upon other people’s behavior and appearance. Our curiosity acts as a language and our photographs become a record of an outgoing observation.
Is the respect towards people built according to brands they wear or rather wisdom and honesty they share in everyday life? What is important in society today, what impresses more and what makes an impact to categorize people or to judge them?
AUTHOR
Marta Kochanek is a Portrait Photographer. During her continuing career, Marta was offered the opportunity to spearhead a large, independent archival project for Annie Leibovitz in New York in 2011. She then joined the Production Team and assisted Ms Leibovitz on set for shoots for Vogue and Vanity Fair. Her photographs have been shown several times in both group and solo exhibitions, including Mall Galleries in London, Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery, the MAC - Birmingham, as well as Verge Art Brooklyn and Leslie & Lohman Museum in New York. In 2012, Marta was invited to join the Daegu Biennial in South Korea.
