This artwork belongs to the series “Life after Australia: Visions and Memories”, which is about how difficult is to adapt to a new location after leaving a place that one loves.
Subjects from Australia are mixed with the new scenery in the mind of the person who left and is trying to adapt to his new reality. To make easier the process, this person chooses to focus on the best of his new location (mostly cultural aspects), which appears mixed with the most interesting elements of Australia according to his view (Australian nature).
This artwork is the first one of the series. It represents how early nostalgia feelings appear – on the return journey itself. Looking through the airplane window the first visions show up. Two kangaroos contemplate the cloud sheet below the plane, at twilight. Also, the airline plane logo has been transformed, showing the shadow of the mount Uluru (Ayers Rock) below a sky with the Australian flag stars and a boomerang-like moon, representing the aboriginal culture.
Artwork inspired on the Cairns to Papua New Guinea flight 10/01/2013, in which a passenger discovered a 3-meter python on the plane wing.
