Personae, portraits of personal ficiton (Series)
DESCRIPTION
PERSONAE is a series of portraits of people representing characters from their imagination. I started this project from the desire to collaborate with fellow artists and the community around me. I was looking to communicate on a creative level with my surroundings. Each subject was invited to represent his or her alter ego or a ‘character’ that had an important weight on his or her imagination. On 2017 we photographed 81 subjects from different walks of life. Poets, artists, dancers, teachers, accountants, maintenance people, Uber drivers, etc. We culminated the project with an exhibition in New York City at El Barrio’s Artspace PS109 on December 1st 2017. The project had a strong community involvement and the effect on the people who participated was positive and creative. We are currently working on gathering funding to continue the project. The next stage for the Personae project is to photograph vulnerable population groups.
