Who’s that girl? ( Centro Cultural de España – 2004 y 2005 )

The year 2004, I started this series of pictures. I portrayed with an old Hasselblad, to my friends shemales. This is a personal vision - far and at the same time integrated and committed - these characters and their personal lifestyle. I called the series "Who's that girl?". The picture I present, "Caesar", a recreation of an image of Man Ray, were the ones the need to portray these artists. César Toledo, actor and costume designer, was ideal for turning the tables in a very feminine and iconic image of the history of photography and confront it with the public in a country like Peru, where even the society is very conservative, Catholic and Christian majority and where the rights of the LGBT community are restricted

Germán Ballesteros Loli (Lima, 1964) photographer and visual artist. He studied communications, journalism, advertising and film. He has conducted various workshops of theatre and dance. He has published articles and photographs and has been editor in varied and important newspapers and magazines as meridiano de Lima, Facto, artefacto and worked S.E.D. de El Comercio, in publications as we are, Linda, maniquí, Visto y Bueno, TV +, was photographer responsible for almost 6 years, among other publications. Since 1991 it has participated in art exhibitions, installations and performances. He has exhibited his work in important galleries and also in unconventional places and this includes photography, performance and video. His personal work inquires about the man and his condition and has influence of the Baroque, painting, cinema, and literature. Selected twice to the viewing of PhE (Lima, - 2009 / Rosario-2015). Today his work intervention is part of the sample Confluence by the the10 anniversary of the transatlantic project in the Vila Mariana SECS in the city of São paulo and in Casa De America in Madrid, in the official section of PhE 2017.
