The Maspalomas Project (Series)
DESCRIPTION
Maspalomas is one of the best-known Spanish tourist resort towns. September 2016 was my first visit to Maspalomas and The Canary Islands. I chose to go there mostly due to the craving of some easy, cheap and sunny summer holidays. What I found: the tackiest, campest, trashiest, friendliest holiday dream world, possibly what attracts hordes of regular tourists from all over Europe and beyond. But there was something else that caught my attention, away from it’s stunning dunes and drag shows, its architecture. I did some further research and Maspalomas is the result of a 60s development project, organised as an Ideas Contest and open to the International Union of Architects. A creation for tourists, that is in continuous growth. Throughout three visits to the island I decided to capture some of the touristy dreamy buildings in the series that I’ve called The Maspalomas Project.
