Photomanipulation nominee

I come across several dead or fallen trees on my daily wanderings and, whilst interested in their shapes and forms, began to see and collect examples containing other forms or parts of life forms within. Fairy wings and dog in a stump, human head hung in shame, menacing talon and comedic alligator are part of this collection included here. It might be emotion, meaning or just visual fun. Whichever of these; it goes into my collection of 'dead tree creatures'.

I am an amateur photographer based in the UK. Having pursued landscape and travel photography in the past, getting works into a local gallery, Derbyshire Magazine and arts festival exhibitions, I started again with a new camera system in 2017. This allowed me to extend my scope and venture further into different genres. My first project was 12 months in duration which I scoped as 'Five Miles from Home' meaning that I would seek to use my imagination in locations almost exclusively in places seemingly very familiar to me. I was sure that there could be more to discover 'on my doorstep' so my aspiration was to rediscover what I had known for many years with intent to portray it in either ways that I had not previously seen it or from a perspective that delves ever deeper into the detail of my home environment.
