“Hold fast to dreams, for if dreams die, life is a broken-winged bird that cannot fly”– ‘Dreams’ by Langston Hughes (Series)
DESCRIPTION
While making these images I had a saying in mind that 'In dreams we fly away to a place not seen in reality'. However, dreams that are not realistic are almost considered childish. The concept of maturing and becoming an adult means that you should be realistic and down to earth. You don’t have time to be ‘dreaming with the fairies’. Flying is one of the most delightful aspects of dreaming. To get a proper representation of the contrast I decided to make a diptych series – the first image is of happiness in dreams and the second is, at the same point in time, reality wants to being you back down to earth (‘misery loves company’).
