Portrait nominee

This studio portrait series showcases personal style in the American city of Philadelphia. About two years ago, I was intrigued by what people wore to studio sessions when allowed to present themselves however they wished and eventually started asking subjects to wear clothing they felt looked great.

The file names include the first and last name of the models in each image.

I want my portrait work to capture emotions and expressions often kept private, which are part of a subject's authentic self. Through an intensive process involving conversation and reflection, I quickly develop a high degree of intimacy and rapport while creating images containing a subtle complexity.
Canadian and currently based in Philadelphia, I am completing the Philadelphia Photo Arts Center's Contemporary Practices Certificate Program in Spring 2019.
