Portrait nominee

The women in the masculin country of Bangladesh are often marginalised, and do not get the credit of the work that they do. Especially the manual labour is also perceived as a job without much dignity and respect.
I wanted to give these hard working people a face, by portraying them in a way that reveals their hard work, and at the same time show the hardship of their every day reality.

My name is Steven and I am Dutch, but I have worked for years in Bangladesh.
The country is amazing, despite the negative attention it often receives in the media.
I have travelled extensively through the country, and decided to show the reality, but in a way that it empowers the people in my pictures.
