These are the latest works from my on-going series "alchemist's dream."
I create these images as if I were making a children's fairytale without words.
This series is a visual poetry that visualizes my imaginative world.
As a process of making the images, I actually construct the whole scene that is to be photographed, then shoot it straightforward with a 8x10" camera.
There are two reasons why I choose such process.
One is that I love handcrafted works that people can feel rawness and warmth of the artist.
Like the old puppet show and the stop motion animation, I like to leave the residue of my existence in my photos.
Second reason is that I want to cross the boundary between real and imagination.
By constructing the imaginative world, I am making it real, and by shooting it with film, I am proving its existence.
By doing so, I am crossing the boundary, and twisting the people's mind to lead them to their world of imagination.
I hope my works to be a doorway to the imagination like we all enjoyed with our favorite stories in the childhood.
