This serie is about artisanal fishing off the Brazil coast, its mancraft boats are the main subject here. The pictures show retired wooden boats that are taken back to the sea they used to navigate. I consider this serie a small inventory about this form of art that will disappear soon, without leaving evidence.
This craft is disappearing drastically, following the decline of small-scale family fishing. The secrets of shipbuilding will also disappear, because the artisans are aging and dying without having anyone to teach the techniques of wood construction. And very often they don’t leave any printed technical plan.
