Contorting and contrasting figures in their natural nude form presents a sense of purity, allowing imagination for all different outcomes. This process was inspired by Robert Mapplethorpe’s work, and an overall “wow” reaction to the photos whether it bothers the viewer or not. The photos are to draw someone in and view the many different parts as a complete body system. Some make more sense than others, but all appear functional. With the alignment of the body system presented with such explicit context it could be considered as design, sculptural, and even anatomy work. It can be confusing at first, but once you move past the androgynous figure created you’re left with composition, lighting, and detailed cutouts. Each collaged piece comes with its own source of energy, purposefully pushing the limits of the human body before putting it together to construct an even odder setup. The beauty of the body is something that comes in all shapes, colors, and sizes. It is important to have this tonal range in this body of work to see each person as the same but in different skin. To understand and appreciate the human body as a piece of work.
