The Neo-vanitas project is inspired by 17th-century vanitas paintings and minimalism. The vanitas is a genre of still-life painting from 17th-century Northern Europe. Each item has the symbolic meanings of the inevitability of death and the brevity and vanity of worldly achievements and pleasures. At the beginning of this project, I followed the manner of the traditional pictorial photograph. But soon, through the selection of objects and the way of presenting on a frame like the use of lighting and color range, I tried to reinterpret classic vanitas paintings from a modern viewpoint.
