My work is concerned with the ecosystems of animals and the evidence of their presence.
Based on a dialogue between man and nature, I question our perceptions of reality that go beyond the visible by exploring the secrets of natural open spaces.
« A Secret Life of Animals » is an ongoing work. In the Canadian forest I put infra-red cameras on the trees to obtain night images of animals.
From these black and white photos, I create photo-paintings.
I use my experience of painting to re-configure the photographic image in an intuitive, creative process.
My work involves several stages using acrylic painting and photographic transfer while applying special effects such as smoke and shadows.
Within my research I examine the primal issues of fascination and destruction, fragility and strength, ephemeral and immemorial that play out between the man and the wild animals.
Through my series of paintings and photographs I seek connection with the secrets of the natural world.
« A Secret Life of Animals » re-appropriates images of the natural world.

AUTHOR
Anne Brenner is a Paris-based artist working in painting and photography.
Though educated in France, she was born in Canada, where she spent her early childhood. The experiences of the natural wide open spaces of Canada and the classical painting of European culture became profound influences in her art practice that reflects a realistic and poetic approach of ecologic issues.
After graduating from the École des Beaux Arts in Paris and at Fine Arts University Paris 1 Pantheon-Sorbonne, she was awarded the Villa Medicis Hors-les-Murs Grant. This grant has allowed her to stay in Africa more than one year. There she continued a project about animals, which eventually lead to the work she does today.
Anne has exhibited in several venues including group exhibits at Centre Georges
Pompidou, Paris where she was part of the exhibition “L’empreinte”. Solo exhibitions include City of Sciences and Art, La Villette, Paris and Museum of Natural History, Grenoble. Her work has recently been shown at Photo-London Art Fair and at Les rencontres d’Arles. She has been selected to exhibit in 2018 and 2019 with The Center of Fine Art Photography in Colorado.
