This series presents images I have created with a utopia in mind. Where the modern urban setting is reflected in the landscape and merged with a Muslim female silhouette, which engages the foreground of the images.
As a male raised by my mother and grandmother, both extremely devote Muslims, I always viewed the female Muslim spirit as the source for emulation in life. Thus the changing silhouettes in these images are a portrayal of the awareness of a strong spirit, countering the stereotypical narrative associated where the traditional garb and female Muslims in general.
Minimalism and Monochromatism within my work has always been calculated, drawing focus to the essence of the storyline and the message. This particular style attempts to exemplify the concept of clarity through simplicity. In emphasis through negative abstraction, the viewer is forced to see beyond the image itself.
