Landscape nominee

The province of Zeeland in the south west of the Netherlands is below sea level and protected by dunes, dikes as well as beach poles, that break the waves. I grew up in this area and the coast provides great opportunities for long exposure photography. These images were taken on the coast in both winter and summer and provide a beautiful contrast to the strong beaufort winds and heavy seas, that batter the coast during rough weather.

My name is Marco van Belleghem and I was born on a farm in the province of Zeeland, in the south west of the Netherlands. I have lived in Australia and England and since 2012 in Belgium, close to my roots. For more than 20 years I have worked in the cruise industry, starting straight out of college as a management trainee and working my way up to my current position of Hotel Director. With my work I have had great opportunities for photography, while visiting beautiful places around the world. A couple of years ago I started to experiment with long exposure photography on the coast in the Netherlands and creating these art images has become pure joy during my time on land.
