Cocoon (Series)
DESCRIPTION
Cocoon is a body of work inspired by the human body, the human struggle and constant and ongoing transformation to simply be happy. We come into the world complete and in our own nature happy. However, social and cultural norms impose so much that goes agains our very nature that we take on and we make our own. In this project I aim to capture through my lens this perspective and the self-inflicted struggle of humanity such that the viewer sees themselves and the image evokes in them a choice. Just like butterflies we build strength in the struggle of the cocoon and that strength can be what propels our flight.
AUTHOR
I am originally from Bulgaria and moved to the US in 1996. I'm an LA based photographer with a worldly outlook. I am passionate about meeting people and learning about who they are, their vision, what evokes emotion in them. I aim to capture the essence in an individual so that my images tell a story about the person infront of my camera.
I have a BA in Internationa Relations but parallel to that I have always been drawn to various art forms such as fineart and dance, thus, I have a natural facination with the human body and movement. In my photography I like to play with light to accent the unique, individual features and shape of my subject. I am also very passionate about travel so many of my images were captured while traveling the world.
I strive to create images that transcend gender, race, religion, etc., invite and engage my audience in connecting with my subjects on purely human level, through their hearts.
