At the end of December 2017, a three-week photographic road trip begins in
South India, from Pondicherry to Alleppey, from Tamil Nadu to Kerala, from the Gulf of
Bengal to the Arabian Sea, surveying the countryside and the villages.
This trip transports me, fascinates me, dazzles me, questions me.
I'm usually unfamiliar with portraiture in my photographic practice, my eye
in the viewfinder will not leave this parade of faces and scenes of life.
I enter a whirlwind, I let myself be carried.
Smiling faces, colorful, pleasant, benevolent, but also questioning looks.
My choice here is on portraits hidden behind grids, as if imprisoned.
Are they really?
