This project depicts Natalia, a 34 year old Bulgarian woman, and her journey towards recovery from a past marked by domestic abuse. Her recovery takes place within a support center in Rome, where she has been safely living with her two children for the past three years.
In the intermediary period before effective legislation and more permanent precautionary measures are implemented, the anti-violence centers play an instrumental role in filling the gap and offer immediate assistance to the women that desperately need it.
Motherly love, bravery, and the ultimate fear for her life and those of her children, have lead her to seek assistance.
The difficult recovery path she has undertaken and the strengthening of the bond with her children make Natalia a role model for rebirth. The strength that fuels her stems from the recognition of her own value as a woman and mother.
Her lone voice represents that of the many women that fall victim to domestic abuse, in midst of a global social problem that, given it is rarely reported, often remains hidden.

DESCRIPTION
AUTHOR
I was born and grew up in a small town in central Italy. After I had graduated, I moved to London for a while, then to Rome, where I currently live and work.
I had always been deeply fascinated by visual languages, especially by photographic medium, when in 2009 I enrolled in a few training courses to learn its basic techniques. Afterwards, I left photography for a few years, getting back to it in 2016, while joining a collective project, which gave me an opportunity to understand deeply the expressive potential of photography.
Since then, my works have been exhibited in Italy and abroad, published on magazines such as "Grain Magazine" and "Eye Magazine", awarded by Sony Photography, Life Framer, IPA, London Street Photography Festival and Umbria World Festival.
