This body of work titled, Ebony Orange (Orange Ebony ) is a series of photographs inspired by the complex nature of human beings. From everyday relations with one another I began dwelling on the complexity of humans through several actions although we are presented yet in a simple physical vessel.
I felt it was very important to use my self as a model for these photographs by the desaturation, deconstruction and reconstruction of various versions of myself. I did this by using the knowledge on the importance of self-exploration before generalizing an entire group.
This piece vacillates between giving and hiding. I offer images of my body, and myself but then obfuscate the body by wrenching it apart, or finely manipulating it to look like many bodies. This was a personal choice, done to highlight my thoughts on there being no singularity to a person. We are complex, and we shouldn’t fool ourselves into believing that there is just one dimension to people. These photographs are meant to be read and analyzed. Symbolism is abundant in them and so is the use of the repeated bright striking orange as a background. For what makes an intricate story if not visuals
