Small selection chosen from the series "The Crappy Flash Portraits" (Consisting of several dozen subjects). This series was inspired by the classic "Carnet" photographs. That square and cold identification photograph that has evolved (not necessarily for the better) with times.
The photographs were indeed digitally captured (Canon 5D) with the help of half a dozen crappy (cheap) flash units. The subjects were for the most part unknown volunteers and it was interesting to notice how the same basic set up and approach seemed to behave differently for each subject. Also interesting, some of the subjects did not appreciate the unforgiving technique approach that, not only did not hide all the blemishes on their faces but actually exaggerated them.
