“Deep into that darkness peering, long I stood there, wondering, fearing, doubting, dreaming dreams no mortal ever dared to dream before.”- Edgar Allan Poe ~
This mage, featuring a German Shorthaired Pointer in The Peak District. Is inspired by a concept I wanted to explore visually narrating the idea of how canines historically, and instinctively as conspicuous explorers. Creatures that move between shadows, deeply emotional, and beautifully serene. Through domestication, we have shaped and carved these animals and brought them into the light, removing the shyness and fear.
This work aims to ignite the conversation of the emotional complexities of these creatures, and how their natural instinct still remains, like a rock. Quietly, and beautifully formed but hidden from the light.
