These two lion brothers are part of a three brother`s pack close to Sable Alley in the Khwai Concession. The three brothers hunt very successfully together – like brothers in arms. This afternoon they killed a buffalo, which is more risky and only experienced lions try to kill a buffalo as they can easily be hurt or even killed.
So far I´ve never seen two fully grown male lions cuddling and taking care of each other. It doesn`t matter how many lions I´ve already seen every time I learn something new. I´ve also only seen brother alliances on TV but never on my own in reality, most male lions stay on their own and don`t share a pack with another male, mostly only brothers do that. Even as of the clear hunting advantage with two male lions they mostly don`t accept any other offspring as they like to spread their own genes and means they kill foreign offspring. Nature is brutal and tough, but also astonishing and cute.
