This photo was taken of a 2 day old foal and her mother. The foal was born one month early in the field and we spent a good hour looking for the afterbirth. The foal was born in a ditch at night away from the other horses.

2 days after this photo was taken, the foal became critically ill with sepsis and the mare and foal were in intensive care for the next 4 weeks.

The photo encapsulates a mothers immediate love for their offspring.

Equine portrait photographer. My work was derived from my personal emotional response and support my horses have always given me. I strive to express the feeling both creatively and uniquely in which these nobel animals have always had a place in our lives.
