Fred Moten and Stefano Harney describe the space of the Undercommons to be a space of refuge and hapticality. It is a space outside of the grasps of the University, and a space where academic fugitives, subversive intellectuals, and minorities who refuse can rest and plot. The Undercommons can be anywhere, for it is not a physical place per say, it could be the transit at night, the bar after hours, or the classroom absent the professor.
