An icon (from the Greek εἰκών eikṓn "image", "resemblance") is a religious work of art, most commonly a painting, in the cultures of the Eastern Christian Orthodox Church, Oriental Orthodoxy, the Roman Catholic, and certain Eastern Catholic churches. The most common subjects include Christ, Virgin Mary, Saints and Angels. It is considered a window through which we look with our physical eyes at the Kingdom of Heaven and the realm of spiritual experience.
The “Epiphany” series is an attempt to lay bare and portray the iconography of the new age. Through a contemporary approach, this doorway between this world and the next, between us humans and the Incarnate God is aesthetically altered and enriched whilst preserving spiritual symbols of sainthood and enlightenment.

AUTHOR
Evi Christopoulou is a photographer born, living and working in Athens, Greece. She started attending private drawing lessons at the early age of seven and engaged in a long lasting romance primarily with oil painting. She earned an honor’s bachelor degree in psychology and a MSc degree in human resource management but ultimately she found the muse of her creativity in photography.
Combining her knowledge of human psychology with visual aesthetics, Evi seeks to create bold, unique and breathtaking images, be that commercial, fashion, conceptual or fine art, which produce intense feelings and make the viewer feel as if they are stepping into a dream. As she believes, photography can have the effect of reflecting the psyche of both the photographer as well as the person being photographed by utilizing evocative and fragmentary elements and thus mirroring the uniqueness of human identity at each precise moment in time. Her eclectic artistic influences are drawn from all forms of art, pop culture, history, ethnic diversities and everyday life.
