The image Moon Flower juxtaposes the ideas of darkness and light, fragility and strength, beauty and decay, exploring how they exist alongside each other.
It was shot in my home studio using a Nikon D750 and a Nikkor 50mm 1.4 lens. Lighting used was a Nikon Speedlight and natural light coming through the nearby window on a cold and rainy day.
The image was heavily edited in post-production. The subject was placed in a dark, misty forest scene, giving the impression of vulnerability and intended to evoke questions from the viewer.
I don’t often feature the warm yellow tones I chose for the dress, yet I felt that the color was perfect to enhance the juxtaposition of the image. The color reminiscent of sunshine sitting in the dark forest scene.
