Against the Elements (Single)
DESCRIPTION
"Against the Elements" - Location: (King Street West) Downtown Toronto, Ontario, Canada; It was a windy, snowy and chilly night in Toronto. I was struggling to see through the heavy snowfall when I noticed the silhouette of a man across the street using an umbrella to ward off the snow. I thought to myself, "smart idea", and then I took a quick snap wondering if I had captured the essence of the wind blowing the snow onto the pedestrians of the street. I think this photo captured some of the experience from that night.
AUTHOR
I've been taking street photography for as long as I've owned a camera. Growing up, oftentimes I'd stop my friends so that I could take a snap of random sights when we'd hang out. For me, capturing such images were a thrill, but one which I shared only with myself and sometimes, a few curious friends. I hadn't really been taking as many photos over the last few years, and so my camera had been prematurely retired. A freak head injury which resulted in a concussion changed that. With all of that downtime, I had stumbled upon a stack of old memory cards which I'd put off going through and rediscovered my love for photography from going through stacks of old memory cards. Soon, I even created a public Instagram account which friends had been encouraging me to do for years, and I posted some of my work. I regret not doing so sooner as I've connected with many others with the same passion, discovered Life Framer and as I've recovered I've been able to take a few snaps here and there - the best of which I have submitted now to the highly esteemed Fine Art Photography Awards.
