Within my experimental approach the search for the familiarity and balance indicates direction. When something feels familiar it feels natural and automatically takes lead. Through multiple steps that are taken, the image grows and undergoes a certain transcendence to become its own identity, a reality beyond representation.
The serie appears through collected photographs transformed by my process-led practice into new life. It is a documentation of something that was and at the same time a promise of something that will be.
The serie owes its name to a prehistorical reptile, serpentine, which is linked with the powerful regenerative energy, a transformation of rebirth that's reflected in the snake shedding its skin.

DESCRIPTION
AUTHOR
Daria recasts images in terms of continued possibility. Often using found images, the artist liquifies them from any traces and uses them as mere commodities. By embracing the creative possibilities of digital technologies Daria subjects images to a process of experimental transformation. The fragmented reality in her work often appears deformed so as to sometimes be entirely abstract. Its ambiguous representational character causes automatic recognition of elements while one is being faced with the artist's construct. The work fosters an illusory experience and bears witness to another reality. Creating previously unknown visual structures allows the artist to question the nature of reality by playing with our shared world captured in photographs.
