All things come from one primitive inherent “Way.” “The way” implies the essential, unnamable process of the universe. “Harmony” is the paramount method by which things never stop blending, converging so that they achieve balance at the end. The answer to how I can reach “Harmony” is through “Change.” The status of my subjects also is changeable: Light is not only the light, for it becomes my camera’s subject; Light can’t be touched, yet it’s naturally there, indefinitely. Moreover, the shade is the opposite way to feel light; The shape of the water can’t be changed because it changes unceasingly all the way up to infinity. That’s the “Harmony” which creates a perfect balance in our chaotic world.
The inspiration for my photo series was the classic Chinese philosophical text, Tao Te Ching. I believe: “People should keep thinking about the pros and cons of things so that our perspectives will be broadened and the walls will be dissolved. The more harmony we can achieve, the more peace we might obtain.” The aesthetic direction of my photographs has been inspired by Chinese painting and Western oil painting. I mixed the principles to create balance in the photographs.
