after years counseling victims of abuse and neglect, I began photographing, what I call 'archaic memoir;' rather than a vivid impression, a framed reference, void of subject with dark shadows representing those lost and forgotten souls absorbing light; a metaphor for actualization and transformation. my objective is evoking not just memories, but primal ones to alter perception and emotion. images created and designed by the earth's rotation and scattered light; visible only through the mind's eye, beyond the surface, transparent.
inspired by the Vedanta (the Hindu philosophy of the empirical and metaphysical realm) the submitted mirrored images are of rock and cloud formations representing self similarity and liberation of self. Kama to depict passion and desire, "Samsara" rebirth, "Mahavishnu" the collective soul of all souls. produced using high contrast and color saturation, each impression is printed on 6 foot aluminum for maximum light and effect.

n 2017 DTLA Life Magazine described Andrew Eyler's work as " a roadmap to a forgotten world..... coaxing to the surface... the forms and faces buried in our... collective psychic memory." Inspired by his experience as a child counselor and belief in the Vedanta,* Andrew's six foot aluminum impressions represent ""Atma" (the eternal unborn soul) in its search for light." His signature impression "Hati's Trail," he believes, best illustrates this "roadmap"; although, its meaning and relevance however, is best left for Andrew to explain.
After first receiving recognition for his project on mirrored images at OCC School of Photography, Andrew's photographs have been published in the International Library of Photography, Photographer's Forum Magazine and Saddleback Valley News. His work, currently on exhibit at Gloria Delson Contemporary Arts in Los Angeles, honors those who have endured and spoken out against sexual abuse and domestic violence, the proceeds, of which, will be donated to the Brain and Behavioral Research Foundation, a charitable organization that awards grants for the discovery of new and improved treatments for mental illness, For more on Andrew Eyler visit his website: www.travelingsun.com
