Lakhta Center. The context of everyday life (Series)
DESCRIPTION
The Lakhta Center tower, designed by RMJM in 2012 and realized in 2018 in Saint Petersburg is the tallest building in Europe. The concept of a super-tall skyscraper being erected in the city known for its historical skyline caused intense public discussions and the site was chosen so that the new structure would not interfere with the iconic cityscape. The tower stands on the outskirt of the city surrounded by parks, lakes, woods, apartment blocks and small country houses. In his series of photographs Yuri Palmin explores the context of Lakhta Center and treats the building as a materialized exclamation sign in the narrative of everyday life.
