Conceptual nominee

Teenage period was the brightest and the sorest time though it had a lot of inspiration. I felt myself as an awkward creature not fitting into any frames, revolting and trying to find my own voice. Self-expression,gender role, the way my body looks,sense of alienation from my family. Later I realized - I belong to environment I was fighting anyway.
If I had to draw my family tree it'd have aloe vera shape. It was the most typical plant in post soviet homes.It reproduces fast so you can share. In this work it's symbolic in many ways.
I used locations and objects that surrounded me during that period.

Self taught photographer from Saint-Petersburg. Artist and dancer in the past. I like to explore world around me through different visual forms. I started photography as a hobby when I was seven. For a long time I was fond of documentary photography and I still do. My other field is creating staged photography. Mostly my works are hand made from the scratch. I create set designs and costumes as well.

My works are about subconscious, shadows, symbols. I explore my own feelings about very personal things. Sometimes it's just a glimpse of impression that I get from my subject. I try to visualize it. As a dancer in the past I love expression of body movement and my models are often dancers.
