DESCRIPTION
'Faust. The Tragedy's First Part' by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe is considered by many as the greatest work of German literature.
- a triptych of Margarete/Gretchen
- doomed from the beginning visualised by a red virgin wool necklace on her neck; a direct reference to the book
- three stages: 'curious' which ends in love, 'sceptical' and 'lost' in her insaneness
- on her body written passages of the original text in german to amplify each stage
