The idea behind this project was to reinterpret a selection of renaissance and neoclassical paintings.
I wanted to recreate each scene visually, but remove the original context and create a new narrative based on familiar, contemporary experiences.
I used a variety of of photographic techniques (long exposures, shooting scenes out of focus to overlay, distracting a toddler with chocolate) and too many retouching techniques to list, many of which I developed specifically for this project. Each technique added aesthetic qualities of the original paintings to the images.
