Landscape nominee

This is a collection of my fine art black and white work. I am passionate about black and white photography and the mood and emotion it elicits. With the absence of color you have to rely on the shape and shade of your art to express your feelings.

I have always had an artistic side. When I was young, I entered a grocer’s coloring contest and my entry was rejected because they thought my mother did it. She told me to take it as a compliment and take pride in knowing I did the very best I could. I was always passionate about art, a dreamer if you will. I was always doodling when I should’ve been listening. After school I continued with art as a hobby exploring many mediums from pencil to silk screening and graphic illustration all while maintaining a full-time job as a firefighter.
In 2012 I picked up a camera, fell in love with it, and it hasn’t changed at all. An unfortunate firefighting injury forced me to retire, but it allowed me to engage in this passion full-time. While I miss firefighting every day, I am fortunate that I have another love I can pursue. I favor long exposure and dark, moody shots in black and white, as they invoke a sense of mystery and wonder.
