Last Chance consists of a series of images that attempt to visually interpret, in a minimal and abstract way, the current environmental changes that are negatively affecting the landscape and future of our planet.
The photographic images of the pine trees, fundamentally symbols of longevity, fertility and hope, serve as the means to interpret the life and longevity of our environment and of our planet. The images of the metal structures are an attempt to represent the expansive human construction that is suffocating our environment, partly due to deforestation and overpopulation. At the same time, global warming is causing extreme climate changes and adverse effects, such as ozone depletion, toxic spills, unusual flashes of floods, acid rain, pollution of the soil, the sea and the air. Some such effects I have attempted to depict in this body of work.
Understanding the impacts of these changes is critical for evaluating the true complications that climate change is causing to our environment. This may be our Last Chance to make the right choices about energy production and consumption. Our Last Chance to take the urgent steps needed in order to save our planet.

DESCRIPTION
AUTHOR
Despina Zaimis is always looking to reframe the familiar and to give new meaning to the subject she is photographing through her creative process. Inspiration will come from the excitement of discovering a new place that will trigger an idea and lead to a new series of photos. While taking photos makes her feel connected to the world, editing her images becomes a process of connecting to her inner self. She is drawn into post-processing her images by experimenting with different editing styles, colours, textures and tones, depending on the theme she has chosen to work on. Fascinated by the way the process of editing can intensify and transform her photos into completely new images, her aim is to evoke the beauty, vibrance and mystery of life, as she sees and perceives it through her creative process.
Her photos are sold in limited edition prints and are decorating homes and hotels in Europe, the USA, Mexico and Japan.
