Open Theme nominee

The motivation: What we see is the portrait of a woman and then there is the hindering, covering, possessing veil which seems to function as a fine but strict line drawn between the spiritual and material worlds.
The veil is the essential part of the mystery which, paradoxically, can only be perceived through the coexistence of a hindering veil. While it is vision-blocking, the veil actually is and has to be semitranslucent all the time, because of the omnipresence of the mystery.

Technic: I have used multiple layers of digital photography to give an art effect as if it has been hand painted.

Cagla Baykal, is a fine art photographer, based in Istanbul, Turkey.

She started her career as a fashion director for a global magazine Marie Claire Turkey in 1996 and continued in fashion director of Elle Turkey, after her graduation from LCF (London College of Fashion) Fashion Design. In following years, she has been the art and fashion director of most known campaigns in fashion, commercial, photography and television industries.

She started her second career as a Fine Art photographer. Her works has been published in global magazines.

Her works exhibited in Contemporary Istanbul in 2015.
