Surreal Studies
Surrealism has its own language and this language is so powerful. The image looks rigid, but it is not, it expands, re-forms, revaluates. It represents a certain moment but it is a conclusion, the end result, therefore it speaks. A single image holds its infinite possibilities of a new way of understanding.
This photograph is one of a good example of my ‘Surreal Studies’ series. Because it is not a study by itself but also a self portrait of how the surreal studies speaks for itself. This is exactly what happens when you deal with surreal imagery, an invisible door opens itself. I follow the path without knowing where it takes me.
AUTHOR
Cagla Baykal, is a fine art photographer, based in Istanbul, Turkey.
She started her career as a fashion director for a global magazine Marie Claire Turkey in 1996 and continued in fashion director of Elle Turkey, after her graduation from LCF (London College of Fashion) Fashion Design. In following years, she has been the art and fashion director of most known campaigns in fashion, commercial, photography and television industries.
She started her second career as a Fine Art photographer. Her works has been published in global magazines.
