About 55 thousand cases of breast cancer are detected in Russia every year - this is a lot. And behind the statistics and figures are the stories of thousands of women who fight with the disease every day.
When a patient is diagnosed with cancer, not only surgery is important, but also the condition after. First of all, this is hard emotional work, the process of accepting new body, the process of dealing with fears. Is it possible to eradicate them to the end, is it necessary?
The characters of the project are young women who have overcome or still struggling with breast cancer. For most women with this diagnosis nude photography is not possible for a number of reasons, including total rejection of a new body. But portrayed women decided to take this step thus trying to reach other diseased. Their stories are the stories of rediscovering female inner power, the stories that carry a very important message to the women diagnosed with breast cancer who cannot accept themselves thus destroying the stereotypes of physical beauty and fighting with the stigma.

I am a Russian born freelance photographer and visual artist. My photographic practice primarily focuses on the exploration of the issues of modern society. With the help of different visual languages and forms I look at the problems of identity of minorities, prejudice on the basis of race, religion, gender and sexual orientation, issues of ecology, consequences of the conflicts and natural disasters. I often execute very personal photographic projects exploring my very own inner demons, past and family.
I am the awardee of the number of international contests such as: NPPA Best of Photojournalism, Bartur Photo Awards, Pictures of the Year International, Pictures of the Year Asia, Istanbul Photo Awards, Direct Look Photocontest, Luis Valtuena Humanitarian Photography Award and many more.
