Champey Academy of Arts is a local professional and non-profit school offering young people of Phnom Penh free training in Cambodian traditional arts including dance, music, drawing and painting. On average there are over 100 students, aged between 5 and 22.
The Champey Academy of Arts mission is to preserve and protect Cambodia’s artistic heritage for future generations.
With my camera I follow the traditional theatre and dance of not only this academy, but also the ‘Sacred Dancers of Angkor’ and many other similar institutions.
