In the middle of winter where the beaches of Sydney Australia are thin with visitors, there are few that brave the winter chill's of 5 degree's and the crisp waters. Sometimes the sky was clear, other morning, foggy and grey.
These pieces cross the visual divide between photography and painting.
Floating in the water with nothing but my camera and flippers, these shots are all taken right at the point where the sun is waking up over the edge of the world. These images are produced from by played around with the focal point, the exposure, aperture and ultimately the light and colours from the rising sun as it bounces off the smooth dawn waters.
There has been no post production manipulation on these images.

DESCRIPTION
AUTHOR
Tim Elwin, an Australian Accredited Professional Photographer and award winning Producer/Director can be found mostly floating out at sea in the dark hours of dawn either with his camera, wishing he had his surfboard, or with his surfboard, wishing he had my camera.
Specialising in Lifestyle, Fashion & Portrait Photography, however it’s in the water at dawn where his talents really shine with his work often merging between photograph & a painting.
Thankful to be alive after a horrific motorcycle accident in 2018, which left among other injuries, a predominately disabled leg. Not knowing whether he’d walk or surf again, Tim’s connection with the water pushed him through rehabilitation to get him back on his feet & back into the water doing what he loves best, shooting the sunrise & those people who brave the often cold & windy waters at dawn to start their day in the most vigorous of ways!
Spending months in hospitals & wheelchairs drove him (excuse the pun) to set up a social initiative called “Print For Print” which donates 50% of all his art sales to installing free biophilic fine art photography into the public hospitals.
