DESCRIPTION
These icebreakers of Marken have protected the dikes of the island of Marken since 1872 from floating and accumulating ice during Wintertime. Nowadays with the climate change they stand useless, but still have historical and cultural value in remembrance of the harsh Wintertimes not too long ago.
This photo is part of a serie of Dutch Waterscapes. A serie of 10 photographs portraying typical Dutch Landscapes around and of the Ijsselmeer, the Former Southern Sea.
