No, a still life is not quiet….
A still life is actually not that still at all. Especially when the objects seem to go their own way in a surreal way. The fruit and flowers are fresh and form the link with the still life from the Dutch painters of the 17th century. But the objects seem to float, gravity is being challenged in a surreal way.
The common thread in the series of still lifes is the pear. In all kind of shapes and even as a lamp. It’s a kind of ‘surrealism baroque’.

DESCRIPTION
AUTHOR
The inspiration for my portraits comes from the Baroque painting combined with contemporary aspects. I especially like the scarce lighting that was so beautifully used by the painters from the Golden Age, such as Rembrandt and Vermeer. With my photos I want to tell a special story that tells about a unity or similarity between child and animal. This creates an almost surreal Baroque atmosphere.
