Lilith is a female demonic figure in Jewish mythology, possibly based on a demonic being in Mesopotamian mythology. She was first mentioned in the Babylonian Talmud in the 3rd-5th centuries, and developed in medieval Jewish literature into Eve's predecessor as Adam's first wife.
