Mystic Isle (Single)
DESCRIPTION
An extremely foggy dawn develops across the still waters of Newport Lakes, providing a haunting eeriness to the air. I live only 5 minutes from the area, and have been a regular early morning visitor hoping to capture this scene and have always left empty handed, as the amount of mist that sits on the water in the early morning fails to provide enough separation between the small island and the foliage behind. Luckily on this particular morning in late autumn 2020, I woke to see the perfect lack of visibility from my window. Among many benefits of having 'go to' local spots, is that you can save time trying to find compositions and set up your gear exactly where you've planned previously, which is exactly what happened and allowed me to concentrate on taking the same shot, a number of times, and then having a choice of which one had the right amount of fog.
