Night Photography 3rd place winner

I was a young child when I gazed through a telescope and saw Saturn's rings and Jupiter's cloud belts and moons. They appeared as jewels laid upon a black velvet cloth backdrop. That memory lives with me and later in life I became enamored with the night sky and what it contained. This series represents some objects that are present in our night sky and that are actually cover quite a bit of sky area. However, they are faint and only long duration photographs can capture their details and colors. My field of view is quite large and for some of these images 60 full moons could be placed in the field of view.

I'm an amateur photographer specializing in the night sky. I have received some awards for my photography and have been featured in magazines and my work has also appeared in astronomy books. My photography was placed on hold for many years due to my career. However, at the end of 2017, I resumed my imaging of the night sky and I'm trying to make up for lost time. It takes a lot of time and effort to take the photos and then to take this data and post process it. But it's a labor of love.
