TESTAE (2020)
"Testae" is the plural of the term which in Latin means vase, amphora.
TESTAE is a collection of very special, human vases. The body becomes a vase and is nude, in ceramic, free of disturbing elements, shaped by light like clay, by means of the chiaroscuro plastic typical of the soft analogue black and white of a Polaroid, and reveals itself between penumbra and light, resting on a pedestal in front of a 19th century tapestry, like a valuable furnishing accessory. The "vase" is a container of lifeblood for the individual herbal, floral and arboreal essences that fill it, adorn it, complete it and communicate it. Only two specimens of each pose were produced, worked afterwards with the application of the natural essences that were dried and treated beforehand, in order to manage their shapes, textures and colour shades individually. The complete series consists of 18 polaroid.
AUTHOR
Oriana Majoli was born in 1979 in southern Italy.After several shorts stories in digital, it ends in 2017, three years after the first shot, the project LVMEN OBSCVRA, followed by De Profundis(2018),the project instant polaroid PERSONA(2019), the work entitled NIHIL(2019), the polaroid project TESTAE(2020) and her last work In Sanguine (2021).
In the last years, she has exhibited:
in the personal exhibition “De Profundis”, at the museum MOA – Museum of Operation Avalanche (March 2019 )
in the personal exhibition LVMEN OBSCVRA at Cremona (May 2019)
in the collective exhibition of the Artkeys award (Oct 2019)in which "De Profundis" won the First Prize.
in the group instant Polaroid exhibition CON+TATTO with TESTAE(Sep 2020) at Castelfranco Veneto-TV
